Sylvester was born around June of 2005. Sylvester started out as a stray cat. When he first showed up on our back porch he could've fit in the palm of my hand. I didn't see his mother anywhere in sight, so I put some food and water out for him. He must've like the food I was serving, because he decided to make a home for himself on our patio. He literally lived under our grill for the entire summer. It was at least 2-3 months before he would let anyone get near him. He was soooo scared. I'll never forget the first time he finally let me pet him. When he first felt my hand on him he jumped a little and got ready to run - but then he realized how nice it felt to be petted and decided to roll over and let me rub his tummy. From that day on he began coming in the house a little longer each day. My husband insisted that we "were not keeping another cat"! To jump to the end of the story, Sylvester lives with us now full-time. He is strictly an indoor cat. To our surprise, he doesn't even have the urge to go back outside. He loves to play and he loves to eat. So far his favorite things are pecans, cheese, olives, pizza, and ice cream cake. He begs for food like a dog. He also sleeps under the covers with us every night. My husband still insists that we're not keeping him. I guess some people have a bigger issue with denial than others!
This is what Sly was doing while I was creating this web page.
Our grill was Sly's "Summer Home".
Sylvester loves to play with our blinds. I don't know why I even bother buying cat toys.
